About The Founder

Dr. Jaycee Volkmann, OTD, OTR/L

Hi, I’m Jaycee!

I am a dedicated occupational therapist with a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Boston University, where I also published research focused on stroke rehabilitation and mental health.

With over four years of experience in a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center at Albany Medical Center, my clinical expertise has allowed me to develop advanced skills in managing complex cases and delivering compassionate, individualized care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

My Approach

In 2021, I earned certification through the American Institute of Balance in Largo, FL, specializing in vestibular rehabilitation to address dysfunctions such as BPPV. I am passionate about empowering adults to regain their independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), helping them achieve meaningful improvements in their quality of life.

Beyond clinical practice, I have shared my expertise as an adjunct professor in neuroscience at Russell Sage College, fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals. My approach is patient-centered and purpose-driven, combining advanced knowledge with genuine care to support each individual on their journey to independence and wellness.

Why I chose Balanced Living

The name Balanced Living Occupational Therapy was intentionally chosen to reflect the core philosophy behind my practice. “Balanced Living” represents the idea that true well-being comes from a harmonious integration of physical, emotional, and functional health—it’s not just about overcoming challenges but about creating a fulfilling and sustainable lifestyle. Occupational therapy is all about helping people engage in meaningful activities, and for me, that goes beyond just rehabilitation. It’s about empowering clients to find balance in their daily lives, whether that means regaining independence in daily tasks, managing stress, or optimizing routines for greater ease and function.

The word “Balance” also speaks to my approach as an OT and wellness provider. Rather than focusing solely on limitations or diagnoses, I take a holistic, client-centered approach, addressing all aspects of a person’s life. Whether I’m working with a client recovering from an injury, coaching someone on lifestyle changes, or mentoring an aspiring OT, the goal is always the same: to help them achieve a sense of stability, fulfillment, and control over their own lives.

By including “Occupational Therapy” in the name, I wanted to emphasize my professional foundation while also creating space for wellness and coaching services that extend beyond traditional OT. The name Balanced Living OT perfectly captures the heart of what I do—helping people live with purpose, independence, and, most importantly, balance.

Holistic, Client-Centered Approach
